One unforgettable travel experience this writer had is a stay in Nagarao Island Resort in Guimaras several years back.
It is an unspoiled tropical island that spans 10 hectares. Everywhere you look, there is lush greenery. A large portion of the island is home to the oldest mangroves, birds, butterflies and other animals, another part of it boasts of pristine white sand and another part is the Guimaras waters that is rich in unspoiled corals and fishes.

At night, when you retire to your cottage, you hear the musical exchange of harmless creatures that inhabit the island.
According to its owner and manager, Helen Solayao-Stummer, you can eat to your heart's content as food is served fresh with ingredients coming from the sea and local farms. During lunch, all the guests are alerted by a bell ringing, which means, it's time to gather at the main pavilion and partake of the food together. With this system of dining, people of different nationalities get to share more about their country and culture as well as gain friends.

This ecotourism resort offers complete packages that are composed of room/cottage or villa with private facilities and full board (three meals), because one can't order รก la carte and there are no other restaurants on the island.
At Nagarao, there are 16 native-style bungalows equipped with modern amenities. Some cottages are already air-conditioned and the others have electric fans. These are solar energized, thus preserving the peace and quiet in the island.

Indeed, it's true what they say that when you are in Nagarao, you feel like you have the island all to yourself.
